2021

acrylic on two canvases, 20 x 60 inches

This is the second study for Everhart’s Getting There, a mural in the Lower East Side celebrating the neighborhood’s perseverance through the COVID-19 pandemic, completed July 2021.

Getting there by Morgan Everhart, near the intersection of Grand and Suffolk Streets in Manhattan.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Getting There is a mural by Morgan Everhart near the intersection of Grand and Suffolk Streets in New York City’s Lower East Side that commemorates our persistence through the isolation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic and supports two local non-profit organizations central to the community: The Lower Eastside Girls Club and The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural & Educational Center. Everhart’s mural proposal was selected by the Board of Directors for Seward Park Cooperative to grace its intended site.

The mural was completed in July 2021. YCG Fine Art was delighted to fund the painting production costs of Everhart’s Getting There, and we are grateful to Home Depot, Target, and Trader Joe’s and Blick Art Materials for their donation of supplies. The following individuals have kindly donated their services to help bring Everhart’s project to fruition: photographer Lauren Damaskinos and director Cam Willis have recorded the mural, while Jon Lerner is handling fundraising and related activities. Getting There is featured in Neumeraki’s international exhibition, “Art Off Screen.”

ABOUT THE MURAL AND THE STUDIES

Everhart’s mural, Getting There, depicts a landscape transitioning from night to day. Time’s passage is reflected in the linear movement of floral elements that gradually grow brighter and lighter. The lime green band at right represents the horizon line during the day, while the pink and orange border at top is evocative of dusk. YCG Fine Art is delighted to present for sale two large preparatory studies for Getting There by Everhart, and thus offer clients the possibility of owning a work connected to this exciting urban project that celebrates and benefits New York’s Lower East Side in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
