Jane Banks

b. 1959

A native of Springfield, MA, Banks moved to New York in 1978. There, she first studied at Parsons and the School of Visual Arts. Her desire to “learn to paint” as she simply puts it, compelled her to move on to Pratt, where she worked with Louise Fishman, Gretna Campbell, Jack Sonenberg and others. Banks has shown her work at A.I.R Gallery, New York and 80 Washington Square East Gallery at NYU, among other venues, although as a very private individual she has traditionally exhibited and sold her work parsimoniously. Most recently, Banks’ paintings were featured on episode 209 of Strangers, a show by Mia Lidofsky that premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2017.

Banks lives and works in Manhattan.
